Tallen Douglas Rogers, the newest addition to the Rogers / Nailor families was born July 20th, 2006 at 6:54pm. He weighed in at 6 lbs 13oz and is an amazing 19.5" long! By 5:15am the following morning, he was UP to 6 lbs 14.5 ozs. (It is almost unheard of that babies GAIN weight the first day, they generally lose a few ozs!). He is stocky and beautifully limbed. He has blond curly hair and blue eyes. (Yes, Glenn called this one!) His hands are wide and strong looking with Glenn's fingernail beds. His feet are also pretty long, so we might have a recessive gene kicking in. His mouth is shaped a lot like Raven's and they already share some of the same expressions. Remember that little Elvis grin Raven used to give? Tallen is already doing the same thing. He grinned at his Mommy that first night. Britene leans over and smells him frequently. A satisified Mommy-grin lights up her face and she declared him "hers". It's a mommy-smell thing I guess. Glenn struts everywhere he walks now that his son has arrived. Raven got to see her brother briefly yesterday and today (21st). He is a mild curosity to her with the contents of the hospital room a much higher priority right now. I imagine that will change once he comes home and moves into "her" room.
Britene made me promise no scary pictures like we had of Raven connected to wires and oxygen, which is easy because his weight is good. His lungs are good (you should HEAR him hollar when things aren't going to suit him!), his heart is good. Everything is good, he is perfect. The first picture shown was only 10 minutes after he arrived so he isn't cleaned up yet. They were taking the initial measurements. I don't think I heard his head size, chest size and the like, but I will post that once I know.
